The Art of Tailored Grunge: The Replacements

One of the most underappreciate bands of the 80's and masters of the dishevled, devil may care look happen to be in heavy rotation for yours truly.  With two undeniable classic records, Let It Be and Tim, these guys layed the ground work for lots of the Pitchfork darlings you listen to today, only The Replacements did it better.  Somewhere between the classic rock of the 70's and the punk of the early 80's, The Replacements rewrote a good portion of the sonic landscape.  Despite not a selling a ton of records they left behind a catalog of beautifully self-depriacting tunes, a drunkenly raucous live legacy and the destinction of being your favorite band's favorite band.

Check the pics below to learn how to wear white socks and dress shoes, flannel, shirt jackets and a ripped t-shirt correctly.  While grunge often looks sloppy, these guys had a nack for making everything look effortlessly, yet meticulously thrown together (if that makes any sense).  Note that despite the inherent messiness of the garments the slacks are still tailored, the jeans slim and the shirts tucked in.  Beer and cigarettes doesn't hurt either.
