Attn: Gant Rowing Collection

So apparently Gant has organized a rowing race between two prominent Swedish boarding schools to be held on May 22.  Honestly, I could care less about that. What I do care about, however, is that in conjunction with the race is the debut of a new collection appropriately dubbed the Gant Rowing Collection.  This new collection is "born from the classic American Sportswear style that is Gant, the Gant Rowing Collection also takes its inspiration from the rich heritage of rowing as well as the ivy covered campuses of Harvard and Yale."  Sounds like something a lot of people who read this blog can totally get down with.  No release date has been set and the only looks currently available are some press pics, but this sounds promising.  Regardless of how sweet this stuff turns out it seems as if it is only going to be available at the Gant flagship over in Sweden (side bar: I haven't had Swedish Fish in a minute).  That's kind of a buzzkill, but I'm curious to see if Gant can continue their recent unstoppable dominance of satorial coolness (i.e. Bastian callabo, Rugger).

  1. Cool idea but are they expanding too fast? I think Gant should focus on Rugger and make it the best line it possibly can. It seems like expanding will just water down everything else that they do. I'm sure this line will be cool, but there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

  2. I think the idea of the race is cool. I stopped to watch one in Dublin once. So much fun!

  3. The collection will only be available in Sweden for a limited time (starting yesterday), in 22 outlets, and on the day at the actual rowing race. So no real chance of water anything down... And the collection is also very similar to the school uniforms of the two schools competing in the race... and if you didn't go to any of the two schools I doubt it's that exciting, however, Gant has always been hugely popular in Sweden so who knows!?
